Xavi Hernandez and the year 2010 (Part 2)
14th March: Barcelona were to face a tough Spanish side Valencia including players like David Villa, Juan Mata and Roberto Soldado. Despite the fact that Valencia looked to be tough, the Catalan giants managed to defeat them 3-0 at home. The day did not end without a record for Xavi Hernandez as he managed to equal the record number of wins to Migueli’s, which is 195. The impressive part of the “record” was the fact that Xavi Hernandez played fewer games than Migueli and won exactly as many games as he did for Barcelona.
17th March: Barcelona were to face the German side Stuttgart during the UEFA Champions League match and the Germans looked to be very strong at their home as Barcelona only managed a 1-1 draw away from home. However, with the German team visiting Barcelona, there was no chance they could stand the striking force of Josep Guardiola as the home team gave them a 4-0 thrashing. Despite the fact that Barcelona won the game, Xavi Hernandez suffered from another muscular injury during the pre-match warm up and he was ruled out of the game.
27th March: Xavi Hernandez was still known to be “injured” for the Barcelona fans, but Josep Guardiola decided to surprise everyone as the Spanish midfielder featured for 30 minutes against Mallorca and Barcelona won the game 0-1 away from home.
31st March: Xavi Hernandez managed to lead Barcelona in one of the best performances of the season. The game was against the English side Arsenal, which was led by Cesc Fabregas who is also a former Barcelona man. Xavi managed to dominate the midfield throughout the game and during the game, he managed to set both the goals for his side as the Spaniards only managed a 2-2 draw and Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored 2 goals on Xavi’s assists.
10th April: Barcelona were to face their arch nemesis Real Madrid on their home ground, the Santiago Bernabeu. The “El Clasico” is always a special moment for Barcelona and Xavi Hernandez was the one who managed to pull the strings of the oppositions’ midfield and by setting up 2 goals for his side he helped his team win the game 0-2 away from home. The win helped Barcelona maintain their first spot in the Spanish La Liga.
17th April: Barcelona were to face Espanyol in an intense derby game away from home. Xavi Hernandez featured for the 10th time in a derby game and despite the fact that he dominated the midfield throughout the game, the match ended in a goalless draw.
24th April: Xavi Hernandez made another record as he was seen striding forward. The Spanish midfield maestro picked up his 200th Spanish La Liga victory as the Catalan Giants won the game 3-1 at the Nou Camp against Xerez CD. While being under Josep Guardiola, Xavi Hernandez was able to show off his real talent as the Spaniard looked to be flawless in his passing and barely misjudged a pass while performing for his club.
