Xavi Hernandez speaks after the El Clasico
The Spanish maestro spoke after the El Clasico that took place on Saturday at the Santiago Bernabeu. Despite the several controversial decisions made by the referee, the Spanish Champions decided to refrain from commenting on any of them after the game.
As the game kicked off, Barcelona was leading the Spanish La Liga points table with eight points. The Catalan Giants defeated Real Madrid 5-0 at the Nou Camp during the first half of the season.
With Real Madrid hosting Barcelona this time, and Josep Guardiola having an “all-winning” advantage over the Los Blancos, the match became quite exciting. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 both needed to score and they did not disappoint.
With Lionel Messi finally scoring against Jose Mourinho, Cristiano Ronaldo too was able to score against Barcelona for the first time in his life.
The Catalan Giants were away from home and still managed to dominate seventy-two percent possession. Even though Real Madrid was more direct towards the game, Barcelona dominated in terms of possession.
If there is one man responsible for the midfield domination, it is the Barcelona midfielder, Xavi Hernandez. The midfield maestro completed the highest amount of passes during the game and was simply one of the best players on the pitch for Barcelona.
Like all the other Barcelona players, Xavi Hernandez decided not to comment on the decisions made by the referee. The Catalan midfielder said that he had nothing to say about the referee since his job was already very hard.
Xavi Hernandez stated that Barcelona was the better side throughout the game and dominated completely during the 90 minutes. He said, “We were the better team, faithful to our playing style and we’ll take a lot from the game, despite not getting the three
points.”
The Spanish maestro thought that Barcelona was the greater of the two teams. He said that it is definitely difficult to dominate the ball at the Santiago Bernabeu and Barcelona did so, splendidly.
The whole team was unhappy at the fact that Real Madrid, despite losing a man, was successfully able to contain the Catalan Giants. However, Xavi Hernandez still thought the result was positive and his side was going home with an eight point lead above their
arch rivals.
Xavi Hernandez was very much surprised with the way Real Madrid approached the game. The Spaniard said, “They allowed us to control the whole game. We didn’t expect that, we thought they would pressurise us high up the field.”
Real Madrid, managed to create a lot of chances on goal, in spite of having only twenty-eight percent possession of the ball. They had a good number of shots on goal, however, were unable to kill off the game. Barcelona, on the other hand, created fewer
chances on goal but all of them were one-on-one situations on positions from which the goals could easily have been achieved.
Xavi Hernandez summed up his interview by stating, “In no way will Madrid’s morale be higher.”
He further added that Barcelona is leaving the pitch with a “good feeling” because they have made a positive step towards the league title.
Barcelona is currently sitting eight points above Real Madrid. After the draw there was no change in the gap between the two teams and the Los Blancos still have a lot of ground to make to win the Spanish La Liga title.
