http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Iker-Casillas-c16815 recently spoke about how people should not keep talking about Barcelona’s youth academy, as they were nowhere a few years back and now Xavi Hernandez has answered back to the Spanish captain.
The Spanish goalkeeper and captain, Iker Casillas, recently stated in an interview about how Barcelona should not be boasting about a youth academy which they started recently.
The Spaniard was of the view that almost eleven or twelve years ago, there were not many home-grown players in the Catalan club and that was when Xavi Hernandez and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carles-Puyol-c8331 started to play for the league leaders.
Casillas also stated that Barcelona’s slogans depict that they have always been a team who have played young players; however, that is not the case.
After listening to what Iker Casillas had to say about Barcelona, Xavi Hernandez gave his own piece of mind to the Spanish goalkeeper and expressed how La Blaugrana draw a lot from their youth academy and deserve to speak about it as it is hard for any team
to consist of players from the youth academy.
While defending http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 and how they speak about their youth academy, Xavi Hernandez said:
“I disagree with Casillas on the subject of the academy. We look to the academy a lot because there are many opportunities, it is possible when in previous years it was not.”
“We draw much from the cantera, it is harder for people to come out of the youth system and adapt and so we are proud.”
“From the base at Barca have come around eight or nine who have been champions of Europe and the world and who http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 are proud of, not just Barca.”
La Blaugrana have often played a team consisting of all 11 players from their youth academy, also known as La Masia.
La Masia has managed to create players who are currently known as the best in the world. These players include Victor Valdes, Carles Puyol, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pedro-c29582 Rodriguez,
Cesc Fabregas, etc.
The Catalan giants are currently eleven points above their arch-rivals, and current Spanish La Liga champions, Real Madrid.
