The Spanish international is waiting for his side to take up the challenge of Real Madrid on Saturday.
The midfield maestro has expressed that the Clasico will be a great match to play and emphasized the significance of the encounter, insisting that the Liga BBVA’s title race depends on the traditionally evocative fixture.
Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid are bound to travel to the Catalan capital this Saturday to face Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona in their next Spanish La Liga fixture.
Earlier this year, Los Blancos boasted a 10-point lead over Barcelona at the top of the league table. At that point, many had predicted that the Whites will manage to end Barca’s dominance in Spanish football this season.
However, the past few weeks have seen Madrid’s lead drop to four points and the Catalans are back in the title race with a chance to defend their title.
Considering recent developments at the top of the Spanish Primera Division’s league standings, El Clasico does come at a time when it can matter the most. At this stage of the season, the two Spanish giants will look to the fixture as the most important
match of this year’s La Liga campaign.
Xavi believes that the importance of the game is paramount for the current Spanish champions, and may be their last chance at retaining the Spanish crown. He stated that the Catalan giants will go into the match with the intention to come out as victors.
While talking to reporters, the 32-year-old was quoted as saying:
"Our mind is set on El Clasico, it is very important for both teams. If Barça win we will continue to have options in this league and if we lose, well, Madrid will have wrapped it up, so it is all or nothing.”
“The league depends very much on this game. We will try to claim the win and move to within a point. We are very excited to have made a comeback from 10 points to four."
Can http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 emerge victorious on Saturday and reclaim the title they have successfully defended for the past three years? Time will tell.
