The Spanish international is staying positive about La Blaugrana finishing the season on a high, regardless of the loss they suffered at the hands of their rivals.
Barcelona’s Xavi has emphasized that the current Spanish champions still have the UEFA Champions League and the Copa del Rey to focus on, after their ambitions of silverware in the Spanish Primera were heavily dented as a result of their defeat in Saturday’s
El Clasico.
Pep Guardiola’s men took on their traditional rivals, Real Madrid, in the Spanish La Liga on Saturday. The match that took place at the Nou Camp saw the home side humbled to a 2-1 loss in the highly anticipated fixture.
Although the defeat means that Barca’s run in the chase for the Liga BBVA title has come to an early end, Xavi appears quite hopeful of the future.
The midfield maestro is of the opinion that the Catalan giants are in the position to fully concentrate on the UEFA Champions League and the Copa del Rey, adding that if they can manage to be successful in these competitions the season will still be fruitful
for the club.
The Nou Camp outfit have already booked a place in the final of the Copa del Rey and are set to take up the challenge of Athletic Bilbao in the showdown of the cup, being tagged as favourites to bring home the trophy from the match.
The Spanish giants have also made it to the last four of the Champions League and are poised to lock horns with English Premier League side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in the semi-final. After losing the first leg at Stamford Bridge with a score of 1-0, Barca will now hope
to make a comeback in the return leg.
While talking to reporters, Xavi was quoted as saying:
"This is not a delicate moment, but one filled with hope, we have in our hands the possibility of having a great season.”

"We may have lost the Liga title, but we have won three titles this season. We also still have the Copa del Rey final and there is the possibility that we can reach the Champions League final.”
Can Pep Guardiola’s men emerge triumphant in Europe and defend their title? We can only wait and find out.
