The Spanish midfielder is definitely one of the most important players at the Nou Camp and even though he is getting old, La Blaugrana are willing to offer him a new contract soon.
Xavi Hernandez is undoubtedly one of the best midfielders in not only in Spain, but also in Europe.
The Spanish maestro has laid his hands on each and every trophy that is available to him and that is the reason why he is considered to be one of the best midfielders in the history of the game.
The Spaniard won all the six trophies which Barcelona can win when Josep Guardiola took charge of La Blaugrana and won a sextuple in his very first year.
Moreover, Xavi has also won the FIFA World Cup in the year 2010 and helped http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 win two consecutive Euro titles, in 2008 and 2012 – something which no other team in Europe has managed to achieve.
Since Xavi Hernandez has been helping http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 and the Spanish team accomplish so much, there is no doubt that he is currently the best midfielder a team can have.
Even with the likes of players like Andres Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thiago-c34888 Alcantara, Xavi’s inclusion in the Barcelona squad is very important.
Xavi’s importance in the Barcelona team was highlighted when they faced Granada over the weekend and couldn’t find the back of the net until the Spanish midfielder finally broke the deadlock in the 87th minute of the game.
However, with Xavi growing old, many believe that he should be rested and Barcelona should find a suitable replacement for him.
Even though Cesc Fabregas is a like-for-like replacement for his Spanish team-mate, whatever Xavi brings to the team is something which no other player can bring.
Therefore, it is now being reported that Barcelona are willing to give a new contract to the Spaniard and will be tying him up for even a longer time, with a better wage package.
While speaking about the contract negotiations with Xavi, Corretja said:
“The club has communicated to us its intention to open negotiations for the renewal and improvement of Xavi’s contract, for which we are very grateful, and we hope that things will develop from here.”
“It [a new contract] has always been there and I’m sure that will be the case this time.”
