Xavi wants Real to see the true colours of Barcelona
When the rivalling football clubs meet on the field, a spectacle is produced usually, but in the case of Real Madrid and Barcelona fans are disappointed for what they paid. Both clubs have managed to entertain viewers and critics on and off field alike.
Usually two El Clássicos are enough to keep fans entertained for a season, but this season are high from dosage of entertainment. Six El Clássicos have caused controversies and conspiracies throughout the season.
With the five goals to nil defeat of Real Madrid and then the extra-time victory of Real in the final of Copa del Rey, few had imagined Barcelona would be able to pull another stunt against their rivals, but they did so in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final as they defeated Los Blancos by 2 goals to nil at Santiago Bernabeu.
Real accused Barca of cheap tactics while the latter accused them of improper conduct by their notorious manager, Jose Mourinho. Since ending whistle of the match both clubs have bared their guns at each other and are lambasting at each other.
In a recent press release Xavi told media that Real has tried to use all unfair means in their encounters. He gave example of the recent encounter saying that Real kept the green grass long and dry in order to bring obstacles to the immaculate passing game of Catalans, but were unsuccessful.
He also said that he had no doubt Real envied the slick game play of the La Liga champions, “I believe people like to see attractive football on a good playing surface, not long grass and hard pitches. It's deplorable that there are no regulations in place for the state of the pitches. In 2011, there are still no regulations and that's regrettable.”
In spite of the off field's dilemma, Xavi hopes that the word-lashing between the clubs will end soon and the real talking will be done on the green, “I have the feeling that we are talking very little about football and that makes me sad. I love playing against Real Madrid and I love playing in these big games. They are very exciting challenges. It's satisfying to be in the semi-finals and a reason to be proud.”
Real is not the only club that is infuriated over Barcelona’s unfair tactical game, Manchester United who will most probably face the Catalans in the final have also detested their methods of winning especially the dive and drama strategy, especially in big matches. Barcelona on the other hand denies diving even though there is proof of it.
At Santiago Bernabeu though it was a double from Argentinean prodigy http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 that gave Barcelona victory, Xavi is once again planning for a game full of domination and possession.
