Question:

Xbox 360 Help......?

Well..I got the RROD ( 3 red rings ) a little bit ago. I opened my 360 up, put some Arctic Silver on the GPU and CPU, and put everything back together. Now, I don't get the 3 Ringed RROD anymore, but the 2 left quadrents are flashing red. I understand this indicates " overheating ", but it happens right when I turn the console on. The DVD drive goes full speed like it's reading a game, and the fans go on too. Then everything stops and it continues to flash red.

Any Suggestions?

Thanks!

  1. Man this happened to mine. First i had 1 Red Light, then i tried the towel trick which worked. So my Xbox had 0 lights, but the graphics on it were messed up bad style. I then tried giving my Xbox the 3 red lights so i could get it repaired for free, but no use, i just got the two. I haven't tried the towel trick for this because my graphics are messed! But give the towel trick a go, and see if you have any luck. If not, speak to microsoft, i'm sure they will do what they can... for a reasonable price! Billy (Fellow Xbox Fan) x

PS: The towel trick involves wrapping your console in 2 - 3 towels and leaving it switched on for 20-30 minutes. If it keep sswitching it self off, keep turning it on so it's on for around 25 minutes. After the 25 mins, leave it to cool on a hard surface for around 20 minutes. With any luck, your xbox should be up and running for atleast a few weeks. Hope this helps man.

  2. if you're thinking of buying an Xbox 360 you should out this site first. they give you an xbox 360 for FREE! all you need to do is complete a few quick tasks for them.

  3. i think that the artic silver might be acting like an insulator not allowing the heat to escape, even with the fans. the fact that its going full speed is worse, it means its working harder, generating MORE heat and then going worse. I recommend: call xbox support at 1-800-4my-xbox and tell them what you did, see if it voids a warranty, and get their professional opinion. Either way, you have a problem that needs to be fixed.

  4. I think it might have something to do with your X-Clamp position or something. There is a good guide from a friend I know from MN near my town that can give you some help.

  5. It mean that the heat control box has become loose. You should take off the silver coating and try and tighten it with a s***w driver.

  6. the thing you need to do is call microsoft 1-800-4my-xbox its free to get it repaired from them. just call them and theyll repair it for u

  7. I'd suggest just takin off the Arctic Silver and sendin it in. If you dont want to pay (since I assuame ur warranty is run out cuz u opened it up) U might have just put the Arctic Silver too close to another component or covered something u werent supposed to. try lookin up vids on youtube
