I have an Apple Airport Extreme, and an apple internet reciever plugged into my 360. I have great connection, but when the phone rings, I lose connection. I have already tried unplugging all of my cordless phones-that did no good. Sometimes something really important good be happening and the phone will ring, losing my connection.

Any ideas on why this is happening and/or how to fix it?

Thanks

  1. It is what you do not say here that leads me to an answer to your question.

You do not say that you have DSL or Cable internet access.  So I tend to think you do not.  And since you say you have a disconnection when the phone rings I really think you do not.

What you seem to have here is a dial up based internet connection on a phone line that has call waiting enabled.  And once you get a call you are loosing your connection.

DISABLE call waiting using the instructions in your phone book.  If you do not have call waiting have the phone company check your line.  Maybe it was turned on by mistake.

If you do have DSL internet access and you are getting disconnected when the phone rings I think you may have forgot to install the necessary filters for your DSL phone line.  But this is still unusual.  Usually leaving the filters out causes slower DSL speed and some noise in the phones.  If this does not help contact your phone and internet provider.

If you have Cable internet access and you are getting disconnected when your cable based phone system rings you may not have it installed correctly.  A separate cable outlet or outlet that has been split should be feeding the phone product and the internet product unless you have some kind of dual purpose product.  If this does not help you may need help from your cable company.

    Good luck
