Xbox 360 LIVE and Ethernet cable help?

I am upstair and connected to a wireless network via my laptop. I plugged an ethernet cable to my laptop and it runs to my Xbox 360. Is there any way to access Xbox LIVE like this? I am running Windows Vista Business. Please Help. Thanks.

        it is  in correct. if u want to use xbox it should get ip address. laptop does not provide ip address.

    get wireless adapter for xbox and  connect to wireless network.

    linksys has good gaming adapter.
