Question:

Xbox 360 Licenses Problem

Sent in my RROD console to the Microsoft repair place and got a brand new one back today. The whole process took only about nine days so I'm pretty impressed with that aspect.

However, I'm now having trouble with licenses for the new console. When I got the new console I plugged in the hard drive and deleted every single thing except game saves off the hard drive, arcade games, dlc, etc. Then I went into account management, download history, and proceeded to download all my stuff back.

After about a hour of downloading everything back I shut off the console, unplugged the modem, turned on the console, and went to games and it told me to unlock them.

Can someone explain to me why? Or better yet how to fix this?

  2. This issue has cause a lot of 360 owners headaches. It comes down to digital rights management. MS overlooked the problem that even though those games are associated with your gamertag and/ or hard drive, they are linked to your 360. So whenever someone gets the RRoD and receives a replacement 360, those games have nothing to link to making them unplayable offline. That's the long winded way to say it, but it comes down to this: You have to play those games while connected to Live in order for them to be unlocked. MS has tried to correct the issue, but it hasn't worked so far.
