Question:

Xbox 360 MTU...please help?

So i recently moved into college and i've had Xbox Live at my house for about the last year and everything worked fine...so i get here bring all the cables and everything...(i don't have a modem/router)...i just plug the ethernet cable directly into the wall...and when I'm doing my xbox live connection tests it says the MTU is failing...i tried calling xbox support but the stupid auto voice thing was no help...i know i have to raise the MTU but i do not have a router or gateway to make it higher....anything you guys can think that would work...would buying a router maybe work too? help please...and thanks in advance

  1. MTU stands for (MAXIMUM TRANSMISSION UNIT) this is basically the amount of data that can be transfered for whatever type of communications device... that being said, you need to go for a router box bro, that box does a h**l of alot of work for your internet connection...

    what happens is your connection (whatever kind it is) is taking too big of a packet (load of data) for it to handle, you need a box to regulate and speed the amount of data that comes through (that which is required for live) try it out, worst case scenario it doesnt work and you take the box back... goodluck
