Hey Everyone!

Im quite a newbie at this so bear with me lol.

I recently bought a JVC TH-A35 dvd player with 5 speakers.

This is connected to xbox 360 via the digital optical cable.

On dvds i get full 5.1 surround sound with all the speakers lit up on the display, but on xbox games only 2 speakers light up but i do get sound from all speakers but no where near as good as the dvd. Does the xbox output 5.1 sound? when i play games it says on the receiver "dolby digital" but not all the speakers are lit up.... I selected 5.1 output on the xbox settings but then there is no sound at all but i get sound which i select the stereo setting......

When I play games the dolby pro logic II sign comes up on the receiver but the 5 speakers are not lit only 3 of them.

Any help would be apreciated!

Many Thanks,

  1. some systems can produce, what they call virtual surround sound, many new TVs do it

It tricks the ears into believing there is surround sound with only two speakers

what about 7.1 surround, that i have heard about recently

play with the settings on your stereo or what ever the source od the 5 speakers, make sure they are all in the right place and plugged into the right sockets.

The beginning of Saving Private Ryan, once was the best DVD for testing the system, but newer DVDs have surpassed this.

  2. I would suggest selling that because the xbox 360 can already play DVDs and has a very high picture quality. Instead get the surround-sound system made for the Xbox and Xbox 360, you could probobly find it at an electronics shop or Ebay, it has great sound and can go to 5.1. its a bit pricey ($400-500) but i got it for $200 on Ebay.(plus it goes really loud!!!  Guitar Hero!!!)
