Question:

Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable Help?!?

Could anyone provide me with any information as to whether or not this cable is compatible with an HP w2207 LCD monitor?

The specs for this monitor can be found here: http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-monitors/hp-w2207-lcd-monitor/4507-3174_7-32391039.html

I've browsed around the web, but haven't really found anything with a definite answer.

According to Microsoft, the maximum resolution the VGA cable can output is 1360x768, however, from what little I've read, you can adjust this so that it'll fit a monitor with a higher resolution, can anyone confirm this?

Many thanks in advance, friends!

  1. From what I can see on my LCD TV, Xbox 360 with the VGA cable can go to 1920 x 1080 after 1360 x 768 (my tv can't go that high, though).  Your LCD monitor can't use that resolution since your the max of your monitor is 1680 x 1050 @ 60 Hz.  If your monitor can do 1360 x 768, then it's compatible & good enough for seeing that I'm using that resolution on my LCD TV.  Of course, there are lower resolutions such as 1280 x 1024 & 1280 x 768 which is typical for most LCD monitors.

Another thing I like to add. Upon using the MS VGA cable on your monitor or similar, colours may look slightly washed out but everything else (eg. sharpness and vibrance) is still great.  If you have settings to enhance the colours then it shouldn't be much of a problem.
