  1. that would be good because eventually microsoft will lose gamers in the future because their dvd holds 9gb and a single bluray holds

    25gb.

  2. sony offered to sell microsoft the right to make a player but the amount of money was astronomical, it was more of a slap in the face than a real offer. There has been rumour of hitachi having the right to do it in a third party sense but i think that its only a rumour.

  3. For them to make a new 360 with blu ray would completely throw everything out of whack.  They would have to recall all the old games and re-release them in blu-ray format.  Then all the old 360's that people spent so much money on, would be useless because Microsoft would have transitioned over to Blu-ray.  That would be nice if they could though.  Just buy a PS3 it's better anyways.

  4. If Xbox did this, all their loyal fans would be very mad.  They already shelled out the $$$ for the Xbox.

If Microsoft made a optional Blu Ray drive (If it is even possible right now, legally) that would force people who bought a 360 from $350-$500 to spend another $300-$400 for a Blu Ray drive.  Thats would be like paying $700 or $800 for the whole setup.  Not to mention the Xbox Live fees, add on Wifi, etc.

If this was on Xbox's mind then they should have built it into the 360 (HD/DVD or Blu Ray) instead of selling it as a add on.

The best thing Sony did for teh consumer was build this technology into the PS3.  Much like PS2 had a built in DVD player.  Sony is always on the cutting edge when it comes to consumer products.

Microsoft likely won't offer this now, maybe if they make another version of the Xbox then we'll see a built in drive but at this point it would be a slap in the face to Xbox owner to spend another 3-4 Hundred dollars.

  5. It is Sony's format. They could let Microsoft buy rights to it though. Just like the cell processor is mostly Sony's idea. The PS3 was a huge thing for Sony and people should have realized it was going to make or break the company. Once Blu-Ray won the format war(and Sony was going to make sure it won) Sony was made again. They lost in Beta/VHS war and went bankrupt, they weren't going to make that mistake again. Sony wouldn't sell the format to MS but they could do like MS does. Sell rights so that more people will be able to use the format and they will make more money. It's like people getting stuck with Windows built in to computers they buy in stores. It's like Bill Gates giving away computers. It's smart marketing.
