  1. you really don't need any fan at all as long as you put it on a hard surface with plenty of room at the back. mine has worked for a year now without problems, and i play daily for 3-4 hours

  2. no there is no need i have had 1 for 3 years and its fine (i have standard) hope all go's well.

  3. They should work fine without one. If it needed more fans Microsoft should/would have designed it with more. I have a cooling fan for my 360 (a launch console) and I don't think I have ever turned the fan on I just use it as a vertical stand - and it is still chuggin along without extra cooling. Just don't tuck it in a cabinet or use it on the carpet. It is made for a hard smooth surface.

Also if you DO get a cooling fan, dont get the one that shares a power supply with the 360. Make sure it has it's own power cord. The ones that share a power cable were damaging some of the earlier 360's, and Microsoft wont cover it under warranty if you do that.

  4. Nope, first of all it would void you warranty and second of all you don't need it. The new xbox 360 (falcon chips) are way better than the old ones and don't heat up as easy....you could also wait till september for the xbox 360s with the Jasper chips, which have smaller gpu's and cpu's (64nm instead of 90nm) which create less heat and uses less energy and are probably going to be the best ones of them all.

Also just make sure you have air conditioning, if not an external fan would do fine
