Xbox 360 hard drive/ soul calibur IV?

Do i need an xbox 360 hard drive to play or do i need one to save. Can i play it with out saving if i don't have a hard drive, because i have a memory unit.

you can play without saving but it gets really annoying. Every time you unlock something and turn off the 360 you will lose what you unlocked. My suggestion is to by a hardrive
