Xbox 360 issues??????????

Question

Alright, my xbox 360 won't let me play madden NFL 09 on my xbox 360. It says that it needs an update in order to play the game, but when I tried to do the update, it failed to do the download. I had my xbox 360 plugged into my router with an ethernet cable. I tried to plug it into my modem as well. All failed. I sat on my phone with Microsoft for two hours, and they just made me test my connectivity repeatedly. All of my connections had gotten confirmed, except for the xbox live, though sometimes it would work. When it did work, it said I needed an update for it to work, but every time I try to do the update it fails. Is there a reason for this? I really don't know how to fix it, and it's frustrating, because I can't play my 60 dollar game.

u can try to open the NAT ( in case u need ports its UDP:88 UDP:3074 TCP: 3074 )  from the router configration & also to enable the UPNP & i wish this will help.

I know you said you tried this, but try it this way. Unplug your modem. Turn off your 360. Plug your ethernet cable from the 360 into the modem. Power on the modem after it's been off for at least 2 minutes. Once your modem goes through the process of starting up, power on your 360 and see if you can get connection that way.

What if your hard drive is full. Maybe you should free up some space on your hard drive and see if that works. I've seen that update screen before, so I know what your talking about. When I did the update I wasn't even connected to the internet, so maybe the update is just from the game itself. Is the game scratched at all? Try cleaning the disc.....but if its brand new than it wouldn't be scratched I guess nvm.

Well you could always try connecting it to a different internet connection, if you think it's your internet connection that's causing all the trouble.

If all else fails, than what if your xbox 360 hard drive is bad. You should try switching it out with a different hard drive. (maybe your friend has an xbox 360 and you could barrow their hard drive just to test it to see if the update works)

Dang that sucks. Honestly I wouldn't know for sure whats wrong, but you should try what I said and see if it works.

Thats very interesting. Anytime I am prompted to download an update I sometimes say 'no' and it will just let me play the game without the update. Updates usually just fix problems/glitches in the game and if you are going to just play by yourself it really doesn't matter. However if you want to play online then the update is required. Unfortunately Microsoft and XBOX Live have always been kind of sketchy so I'm not sure why it won't let you update the game. Perhaps you should take the game back where you got it and explain your situation...at worst they might tell you how to fix it even if they won't let you trade it.  Sorry I can't be more help

i dont think its connectivity, it has to be software related or hardware. i dont have ne wireless or internet based connection and my madden 09 downloaded the update from the cd and BOOM! i was playing within seconds.

might be the game, hdd, firmware, etc.

if its the game, good luck trading it, since u opened it most places say no returns, u might have to sale it at gamestop n just buy a new 1..
