I have this monitor:

And my xbox has an HDMI port and I was wondering if I bought an HDMI to VGA converter, will I be able to play on the monitor? I also have a VGA to DVI adapter.

  1. No, that's the wrong way, and a very expensive mistake. Said monitor has an HDCP-compliant DVI connector, and your Xbox has an electrically equivalent HDMI out. Just buy an HDMI to DVI cable, and use a switch if needed to change between devices. Or, just manually swap the cables between PC and Xbox as needed to save even more cash (assuming PC isn't connected via VGA).

Get this cable. Digital's digital, so no nead to spend more:

That's a "premium" one. I sucessfully use the much cheaper Monoprice 28AWG interconnect with no sparkling or other trouble at 720P and 6 feet. But, at these prices, why not futureproof, right?

You should be able to use those cords to play your Xbox 360 on your monitor.
