What does this mean; "A software emulator is required for each original Xbox game you play on your Xbox 360™ console."

Where can I get them and why do I need them? PS1 and PS2 didn't have this problem.

  1. It means you need to have your 360 hooked up to Live so you can download the latest software emulators for original XBOX games.

It's also possible that your game is not supported by the 360's backwards compatibility. Check here:

    http://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/backward...

Oh, and PS1/PS2 also didn't have any of the Halo games, which I consider to be a much bigger problem than lack of backwards-compatibility. ;)

  2. connect to xbox live. u shud get an update to play original games. they update it a lot. ps1\ps2 doesnt have the problem cause they dont upgrade the graphics\sound of the ps1 games. xbox does though. you can also burn a CD if you dont have live, i think

  3. You can get the emulator from XBL.  Just insert an XBX game into the 360, and it will say that it's unplayable and you need to get the update.  It'll ask if you want to connect to XBL to get the update, click yes if you're connected to XBL.  You can also get an update by buying the Official X-Box magazine.  The DVD included has the update.  Finally, you can either get it from MS or burn it to a DVD yourself.

The 360 doesn't have the hardware to play XBX games, so it has to use software emulation.

  4. In order to play original xbox games on your 360, you have to connect to xbox live and download a patch (update) to play your original xbox game. Most Xbox games can be played on your 360, but some are still not supported. You should check xbox.com for a full listing of games before you buy an original xbox game to play on your 360.

To download the patch for your original xbox game, however, just make sure your 360 is connected to xbox live before you put the original xbox game in the machine. After you turn it on while being connected to live with the original xbox game in the disc tray, the system will take care of the rest for you.

  5. well first of all you need a hard drive , if not then **** off , if you do then just either log in to xbox live or burn it onto the cd from the xbox website , it's because xbox and xbox360 are pretty different , ps1 and ps2 are pretty similar so it doesn't need an emulator
