Xbox 360 repair help?

Ok, so my Xbox got the red ring of death. I have tried on and off to get this thing fixed for TWO WEEKS, but the site just has me going around in a very confusing circle (typical microsoft). Can someone PLEASE give me a step by step here? I'd really appreciate it. Be sure to be clear in your answer, thanks!

I would just call 1-800-myXbox, The same thing happened to me, Since you got the rings I don't think it matters if you do or don't still have a Warranty, Just tell them you got the rings and they will either send you a box in a few weeks to send them you're Xbox in or you can send it in you're own box which will be quicker after they get you're Xbox they will either send you back a new one or they will fix you're old one depending on the condition it is in. It should take about 2-3 weeks for them to replace/fix it and send it back to you and I think they also send you one month of Xbox live, They did for me anyway, and when you call them they will walk you through all the things you need to do and if I were you I wouldn't bother trying to fix it myself unless you really know what you're doing because i don't think they will fix it for free if you take it apart and mess with it, Good luck.

Ring of death usually is caused by overheating.Some wrap cold towel over the box.It may solved but not permanently.

why dont u call the support & they will get it done for you instead of ruining your xbox ?!!

what i did is opened it up removed heat sinks.  scraped of thermal paste got new thermal paste put the heat sinks back on and i was good to go..i do not recommend this if you are in expierence though.if you have warranty deffinetly try to get it fixed.

Hi Rory

To send it back all you need to do is give them a call and they will send you or email you some postage labels and also send you a box to put the Xbox in.

Once you have put your Xbox in the back following the instructions someone will come and pick the box up for you.
