Xbox 360 serial number?

okay i have a 360 coming in the mail. But i want to play it now. I was thinking of buying one from a local store and when the one in the mail comes i was thinking of taking it out of the original box and putting it in the locally owned 360 box. See im not really stealing just replacing. Is there a serial number on the box itelf and will they look at the 360 back to check if it matches

It should have a serial number on the back. It shows through the box because there is a hole for it to be seen from. Some stores may check, because a lot of people have replaced a new one, with a 360 that has gotten the Red Ring of Death.

I think Target is the most lenient when it comes to returns.
