Xbox 360 surge protector problem?

Question

my xbox 360 surge protector popped the other day and wont work. all i did was plug it into the wall and pop there goes my 360! i dont have a warrenty so i popped open my surge protector to find a weird white paste in it! can someone help me?

just get a regular surge protector outlet thing u stick in the outlet and it protects watever is plugged into it
