Xbox 360 warranty question?

Say I buy a 360 from Wal-Mart, but I don't buy a warranty. Some months down the road I get the RROD, can I still get a free replacement 360 directly from Microsoft?

There is a three year warranty through Microsoft for the ring of death (three flashing red lights) for everything else, there is a one year warranty.

yes ur xbox get a default 1 yr warranty just call customer support at 1-800-469-9269 and register ur xbox tell them what is wrong and they will send u a box to ship ur xbox in and the shipping is also paid for and you will get your original xbox back unless the problem is not fixable and they will send u a new one just make sure that when u send your xbox not to send it with your hard drive or faceplates and stuff  like that and no disc left in the tray im telling u this because my younger brother just recently messed up my elite and i got mine back in like 1-2 weeks im very happy with microsoft

yup you'll be covered for three years for the red ring of death...but that only, any other malfunction won't be covered if you don't buy the warranty.
