Question:

Xbox LIVE question in an apartment?

I live in an apartment with Wi-Fi and I am able to get the internet in my room on my laptop. However, my Wireless Adapter for my 360 can't pick up the signal from the network, and I was wondering why. If all else fails, is it possible to buy an ethernet cable, and connect my 360 to my laptop instead of trying configure the adapter to pick up a signal?

  1. I had the Exact same problem....From What i was told (at Best buy) is that the 360 was taking up too much bandwidth, and having 2 laptops, and 1 desktop all connected at the same time was causing the Wireless AP to signal in and out. I upgraded my Wireless AP with a Belkin N Series AP...which allows more bandwidth "flow" and doesnt cause a lost signal. Hopefully this helps....

  2. Yes, I have this exact setup in my house! It took me a while to figure it out though...

You need to run a CROSSOVER ethernet cable from your Xbox to your laptop, then (with the Xbox connected and turned on) go to your network settings on your laptop and choose "share my network connection" or something like that. That will allow the Xbox to use the internet that the laptop is picking up via wi-fi. Just leave all the settings on the Xbox on "automatic" and it will figure it out. You will have to turn your laptop on whenever you want to connect to Xbox Live, but it works totally fine for me!

  3. you have to connect your 360 to your modem with the ethernet cable

  4. go to ur xbox dash board and go to network settings and go to wireless mode and put all the information you need. if you need help with that than call 18004699269 its the xbox customer support umber. they will help you.
