  1. you are experiencing lag. going wireless on an xbox is far from ideal, which is what you're doing connecting it through your laptop. that's also adding an extra step in the processing chain. That causes lag too. another issue is wireless signal strength. I would find a way to get an ethernet cable to your room and plug in a switch and run both the laptop and the xbox off of that. If you cannot get a cable there, then you might get an wireless ethernet bridge. you'll connect that to your xbox instead of your laptop effectivly giving your xbox it's own wireless connection. it's connected to the bridge using a ethernet cable, so you can place the bridge where ever you want so get the best signal strength. that will help you out a bunch if you can get the xbox it's own wireless connection with good signal strength.

you also have to consider other traffic on your network. if other people are using the net, that will cause lag too, even if you've got a good connection.

  2. Run a wire from your router to your Xbox, if you're getting lag, that should help eliminate it.  If that doesnt work, buy a wireless adaptor for your Xbox, rather than going through your laptop- by putting the laptop in the middle, you are introducing another lag point.
