Xbox live questions?

Just bought xbox 360. Set it up fine.

Trying to get xbox live a nightmare!

As we are not wireless iam plugging the ethernet socket straight into the computer from xbox.

The xbox goes through all the checks and it is stopping on ip address!

got all the details off my computer typed it all in.still doesn't work .

I have my network to sharing and there is no problem there. I am on orange broadband.

I have spoke to xbox live help no joy.

Is there any body who could help

Mate u hav 2 buy xbox live .. den it shuld work .. mayb u shuld switch internet provider .. if i was u go with sky or talk talk. den mayb it will work

try goin to the dashboard part, go all the way to the right, go to network settings, were all the info is about ur ip adress and stuff, at the bottom should be something taht says restore network settings to default, then it refinds everything and it should work, i had to do that in once, and it worked

have you tried just connecting your xbox .

check your modem is compatible.

Hey, I think your problem might be the fact that you're connecting your xbox 360 straight to your computer, and it's messing something up.

I would recommend you get an external modem. If you've got one already with an ethernet port in the back, then plug the cable into that and try it, if not then read on..

The modem needs to have an ethernet port on the back so you can plug the cable from your xbox 360, and also a cable to connect it to your computer - the one I have plugs into a simple usb port on your computer. There will also be a hole so you can plug the cable that the internet comes through on in.

But you can seach around for one that will work. I assume your computer atm has an ethernet port in it, so you could get a modem that has 4 ports on the back, and use one to connect your computer to the internet and another for your xbox!

There are lotsss more out there that you can find, and they shouldn't be too expensive. I know it's even more money ontop of what you've already payed but it is worth it if you wanna play xbox live!

This is so bad it’s a nightmare, I sympathise. The worse thing is, every nerd makes it out to be so simple. Erm, here are a number of things you could try:

1> I know you said you werent wireless but If your modem/ router has pairing buttons underneath, try pressing no.1 when all your settings are established.

2> On the xbox settings dashboard, try removing all those i.p / subnet mask details you’ve put in the MANUAL section. Intead flick to 'detect settings', leave the console to detect settings automatically.

3>This is the important one, I agree with the person above- Try running your Ethernet cable straight to the router, as oppose to through your PC. It complicates matters, your pc firewall could be causing problems and there's even more settings to configure if you do it this way.

Sorry I can’t help beyond that, it really depends on your equipment and setup.* The orange (previously wannado) hardware should run fine with the 360.

Finally, I would suggest researching videos on youtube, quick & clear. It was a user upload which FINALLY helped me connect. The vague official xbox site instructions are beyond any normal persons average intelligence or understanding.
