I just bought an Xbox 360... it plays my backup DVDr movies & picture videos....i haven't looked at the specifications yet, but i'm almost sure I have a samsung drive

-is it possible to backup my xbox games onto DVDr (or another format) ?

-if so, will my xbox be able to read the backup game and play it?

  1. DVD movies (depending on what Region it was encoded at) will play on the Xbox 360's DVD drive, as will AVIs in DivX/XviD format since the last December update (these will play through your LAN from a network drive or a USB attached portable media drive).

However, games are a different story.  Standard Xbox 360s cannot play backup or pirated games.  The discs are copyrighted and when copied will not take that copyright information with them.

You can fit a modchip in your Xbox 360 to make it play pirated copies of games, but in some countries (in the EEC especially) it is illegal as it violates copyright laws.  In the U.S. it is less strict, much like the gun laws!
