Question

my brother is going to get an xbox 360 for christmas and i think it's good/bad. i mean the 360 is good.........i just doubt the online stuff, and since i do not know anything about the 360's features and other whatevers that i might not know of, i want awnsers from people who have 360's.

what are those "xbox live points" for?

do you have to pay or use those points to play online?

explain all that you can use those points for and how

The Xbox 360 is amazing online. The xbox live points are for buying game add ons, such as new maps, or new songs for rock band for example. You have to have an xbox live account to use those points. You do not need to use those points to play online. Every xbox 360 comes with 1 month free of xbox live gold membership. After the 1 month is up it turns into silver and you can no longer play online unless you buy a new xbox live gold membership. Gamerscore is a score you get by completing achievements on games offline or online.

The 360 is the best thing i have ever played on. Online is even better though gettiing to talk, play and make new friends online. Microsoft points are the credits you use to buy stuff such as game ad-ons: maps, weapons, accesories for a character etc or just rent movies. Also you will be able to get free game demos of new games being released soon. You can also IM your friends even when they are on their computers. You can buy microsoft points online or in supermarkets. You do not need these to play games online. The points do not cost a lot. When i buy them i always buy 2100 of them which can cost from £17 -£20 which is just under a pound for 100. This is fairly cheap considering you can rent films from 250 points to 550 points although the 550 point films are new released HD movies. A gamercard tells people what country you are from, what games they have, hteir gamerscore and what friends they have. Anyone can see this which is why it only tells people what country you are from. By accessing another persons gamercard you can send a friend request as well. A gamerscore is a number. The higher the number the better. This number tells people how good you are at playing games. This number will increase when you get achievements. Achievements are worth different amounts normally between 5 and 20 though. You get achievements when you complete levels, win the game, obtain an object, kill a boss , kill a certain amount  of people etc. Silver membership does not let you play online but lets you do everything else. Gold lets you play online but you have to pay.You may be thinking why should i pay then. but after having the free gold trial you will not ever want to not have it.
