Xevi Pujolar insists Williams are trying to improve step by step – Formula 1 news
Williams’ chief engineer, Xevi Pujolar has said that they are trying their best to improve their pace step by step, despite facing immense problems in the 2013 Formula 1 so far.
The Grove based squad have been unable to score any points in the season until now. Both their drivers, Pastor Maldonado and Valtteri Bottas, have struggled a lot with some technical and tyre management issues because of which they have failed to pocket even a single point for their team.
Nevertheless, Pujolar has said that they are not feeling upset over their poor performance in the season so far and are positively looking forward to perform well in the forthcoming races. Although, he said that they are working very hard to improve the pace of their car, he also insisted they cannot make progress over one night and can only transform their car gradually.
“For us we find that there are some differences,” Pujolar said. “It's not a revolution; it doesn't transform the car.”
According to Xevi, Williams are very much satisfied with the new Pirelli tyres as they provide better grip to the car and improve its performance in the long-run.
“New-tyre grip is a bit different on the warm-up phase but then in long-run consistency we think they are a bit better. In terms of graining and resistance it's better as well. For the race it will change a bit because you can push, so for us it's a positive change,” he added.
He also stated that they are making improvements in their car and are targeting to strike back in the season ahead to compete well with their rivals.
“We're still trying to improve this car and aiming to improve step by step. We hope that we can the next few races we can see we're making progress,” he explained.
The competition is going to be even more intense in the upcoming races as all the teams are making significant advancements. It will be interesting to see how the British team performs in the season ahead.
