Granit Xhaka, the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder, has opted out of  the London 2012 Olympic Games.

"This decision is good not just for Borussia, but also for Granit himself. We believe we have found a good compromise. It's important to take part in pre-season for a new club for Granit. But his career with the national team is

The player himself insists that his focus at the moment is on breaking into Borussia’s first team so in order to do that he will have to miss the Olympics to train with his club.
"I do not want to go to London. My focus is clearly on Borussia. I told those in charge of Switzerland that, too," Xhaka is quoted as saying in an interview.
The 19-year old made the right choice to opt out of the Olympics, because his sole focus should be on the club that paid a huge amount for his services.
