Xi Yu Lin happy to earn LET membership
Chinese Xi Yu Lin is happy to have earned her LET (Ladies European Tour) for the 2013 season, as the young gun finished fifth at the Lalla Aicha Tour School, held last week in Morocco.
Lin was one of the few young stars who were underrated due to lack of experience, but when it came time to prove her worth in the five-round qualifying tournament, she did her best.
Lin posted an overall 344 to take the fifth position on the leaderboard—something reflecting she is going to give a tough time to rivals in the 2013 season.
The Chinese star got off to a decent start to her campaign as she shot a 70. The score was not enough to place her inside the top 10, but she atoned for lapses in the second round, carding a 67 to improve her position on the leaderboard.
The young gun knew the only thing that would keep her in contention was avoid lousy strokes on the greens. The course was not so challenging, but the greens troubled most of the players, making it difficult to adjust to Moroccan conditions.
The last two rounds proved game changer, witnessing Lin shoot a 68 each in the fourth and fifth round.
Now that the rising star has proved her mettle, it has now become more crucial for her to not just play for herself, but also for her country.
The LET caught up with Lin right after her fifth-place finish in Morocco, where she answered a range of questions from her favourite stuff to what she plans to do in her professional career.
“I like shoes very much and have a big collection. Every time I go to Hong Kong I just try to get as many as I can!” told Lin who will be one of the stars who are likely to grab much of the spotlight in the upcoming season.
Speaking of her interests other than golf, Lin said: “I would like to be a referee or something. I like sports so maybe I will work in sport or do another sport. I used to play basketball and table tennis and badminton”.
