Xia Huan and Jinhua Tang surge into Women’s Doubles final at Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold 2012
China’s emerging shuttlers Xia Huan and Jinhua Tang delivered sensational performance as they surged into Women’s Doubles final of Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold 2012 that is in progress in Switzerland.
In the semi-final contest, Xia and Jinhua hammered Malaysia’s Chin Eei h*i and Wong Pei Tty on Saturday, March 17.
The un-seeded Chinese shuttlers played tremendous badminton throughout the tournament and continued their winning run in the semi-final as well.
Xia and Jinhua played remarkable game against the experienced Malaysians and ended the match in straight sets by taking the court time for just 40 minutes.
The Chinese pair started to play fast and positive badminton from the opening rallies in the first set. They did not drop their speed and rook an early lead.
However, they could not maintain it as the Malaysians also played well and levelled the score by reaching at 6-6.
However, Xia and Jinhua again took over the control and started to dictate the pace of rallies. They continued their impressive performance in the opening half and took a decent lead of 11-8 until the one-minute interval.
After the break, the Malaysians tried their best to level the score but failed to reduce the deficit as their higher ranked Chinese opponents did not make any mistake.
Xia and Jinhua were fully focused in the game and also did not face any problem in taking the first set with an impressive 21-12 score on the board.
In the second set, Xia and Jinhua stunned their Malaysian challengers by plying to their maximum potential as they occupied the driving seat from the starting points and set up a sensational lead of 11-3 until the end of opening half.
After the break, Xia and Jinhua continued their roller-coaster play by keeping the pace of rallies at the highest level.
They did not drop their speed at any stage and easily bagged the set with a one-sided margin of 21-11.
The Chinese shuttlers won this semi-final contest in 40 minutes with a tremendous 21-12 and 21-11 score on the board.
In the final showdown, Xia and Jinhua will take on their compatriots Yixin Bao and Qianxin Zhong who won their semi-final contest against Korea’s Jung Eun Ha and Min Jung Kim in straight sets.
