Xia Jiangbo pockets Women’s 100m freestyle gold – 2012 Paralympic Games
Xia Jiangbo of China pocketed gold medal of the Women’s 100m freestyle in S3 category on day five of the swimming events at the 2012 London Paralympic Games in Aquatics Centre on Monday, September 3.
The crowd appreciated commendable efforts of Xia in the 100m discipline as she dictated terms to her challengers and hit the wall for gold medal.
The Chinese specialist remained in a comfortable lead over her opponents and tapped the wall for gold medal by producing a time of 1 minute and 44.32 seconds.
The champion was chased by Olga Sviderska of Ukraine, remained nearly 8.50 seconds slower from the gold medallist and clocked an effort of 1 minute and 52.91 seconds.
Sviderska remained comfortably ahead of Patricia Valle of Mexico, who stayed nearly seven seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing blockade for bronze medal by submitting a time of 1 minute and 59.76 seconds.
Similarly, fourth fastest spot of the race was secured Pin Xiu Yip of Singapore, who remained almost 10 seconds slower from overpowering the bronze medallist and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 09.41 seconds.
Yip was trailed by Semicha Rizaoglou of Greece, who suffered a loss of nearly 10 seconds from her preceding swimmer and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 19.92 seconds for fifth position.
Sixth finest spot of the race was obtained by Annke Conradi of Germany, who stayed three body lengths slower from upsetting her foregoing finisher and made her way to the finishing blockade with a timing of 2 minutes and 21.92 seconds.
The German swimmer was chased by Haidee Viviana Aceves Perez of Mexico, who stayed 7.04 seconds slower and finished seventh in the race by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 28.96 seconds.
Aceves Perez was traced by Iryna Sotska of Ukraine, who remained considerably slower from her preceding swimmer and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 35.66 seconds for eighth position.
Xia was pleased with her top finish in the 100m discipline and articulated that she would try to sustain her position at forthcoming events.
