My desktop dual core xp pro computer suddenly lost sound. reinstalling the realtek driver from the disk produced a failure.
On the default Audio device appears "SoundTap Recorder" which is a newbe for me and clicking Advanced button dislays "Direct Sound Settings Not Available"
