Xp wont start. having ran avg anti virus windows shutdown and wont load, i get the options to load

having ran avg anti virus windows shutdown and wont load, i get the options to load safe mode, last known good con fig etc, however when i select one it starts to load for a second then a blue screen flashes up for 0.5 of a second and the computer restarts
