China’s prime Mixed Doubles duo Xu Chen-Ma Jin had a perfect start in Yonex French Badminton Open as they secured a pre quarter-final berth in Paris on Wednesday, October 24, 2012.
World Number one pair outshined Markis Kido-Pia Zebadiah Bernadeth of Indonesia by registering a convincing margin of 21-18 and 21-16 in a 38-minute match.
Xu Chen and Ma Jin, who are also the top seeded players of this Super Series, forged a fruitful chemistry and locked the honour in just two games.
Though, the Indonesian shuttlers also showed commendable fighting spirit but luck was not on their side and they had to bid farewell to this prestigious event.
The battle heated up straight away in the beginning of first set as both contenders put all in their possession to gain an immediate advantage.
However, neither of them could establish a permanent lead and kept trailing behind each other all the way to game point situation.
In first half of the set, Markis Kido and Pia Zebadiah let many points slip from their hands but still they managed to stay close on points table until half time.
The Chinese shuttlers Xu Chen and Ma Jin geared up themselves in third quarter of the set and raised their total to a commanding position of 18-15.
They maintained this momentum in the final stage of set and pocketed first match point with an overwhelming score of 21-18.
Next game remained interesting just until few establishing rallies as it was a smooth ride to victory for Xu Chen-Ma Jin in later part of the game.
Initially, both teams entertained the crowd with a splendid show of skills and their honest effort was applauded by the local badminton lovers. They did not allow each other to gain an early advantage and stayed equal until 7-7.
At this stage, the Chinese campaigners showed their class and left their rivals far behind with a mountainous figure of 12-7.
They made best out of this lead in crucial moments and sealed a splendid straight-set victory with 21-16 score.
This win took them into pre quarter-finals where they will be up against Mads Pieler Kolding-Kamilla Rytter Juhl of Denmark.
