Xu Chen, Ma Jin topple Noriyasu Hirata, Miyuki Maeda in second round of 2012 China Open
Mixed Doubles partners Xu Chen and Ma Jin relished full benefits of their home ground and trounced Noriyasu Hirata-Miyuki Maeda in the second round of Li Ning China Open on Thursday, November 15, 2012.
Though, this encounter concluded in just two games but still the Chinese duo had to put an extra effort to read a favourable result of 21-14 and 21-14.
The local badminton lovers applauded the native shuttlers for playing with great control throughout this 36-minute tussle.
World Number one team Xu Chen-Ma Jin looked their best all the way to the final moments as both partners did not allow their rivals to pocket even a single match point.
They set the foundation of their supremacy immediately in the beginning of first set as they prevailed in the establishing rallies and piled up a decent total of 6-3.
This initial lead helped them to keep their challengers at the lower end until half time. They did not commit even a single mistake and strengthened their grip over the game with 11-7 margin.
Later part of the game was not a one-sided affair as the Japanese campaigners also showed some spark and bagged a few valuable points in a row.
Noriyasu Hirata and Miyuki Maeda brought life back to the contest with their electrifying performance but lack of good finishing skills ultimately cost them a valuable match point.
On the other hand, Xu Chen and Ma Jin struck hard when it mattered and won this set with 21-14 score on the board.
The second set was played in similar fashion as the top seeded Chinese players did not give their competitors even a single chance to comeback.
They established an unassailable lead without wasting any time and maintained a significant difference until the last shot was played.
In the first half of the set, the local shuttlers put their opponents under huge pressure with an indomitable figure of 11 and then capitalised this psychological edge to register a winning margin of 21-14.
This splendid victory pit Xu Chen-Ma Jin against another Chinese team, Liu Cheng-Bao Yixin as this clash of compatriots will be a feast for the eyes.
