Y.E. Yang returns to action at the FedEx St. Jude Classic
The 2009 PGA champion Y.E. Yang has announced to return to action at this week’s FedEx St. Jude Classic, at the TPC Southwind in Memphis, after withdrawing from the Memorial Tournament last week.
During the 2012 Crowne Plaza Invitational at the Colonial Country Club, he reported a neck injury that forced him to stay away from the course at the Muirfield Village Golf Club.
However, the recent news of his return has brought cheers to his fans, who want him to return to the form that once allowed him to earn the maiden major victory of his career.
“Great to be back in action. Memphis after a minor neck injury pulled me out of memorial [sic]," he tweeted. "Made a change. Working with James Walton on my bag this week onwards," he added.
In the 11 events that he has played so far on the PGA Tour in 2012, he has not been able to impress his fans with his game, as he made the cut only seven times and listed among the top-25 only once.
Therefore, he really needs to work hard in order to get back in form, especially when the US Open is just one week away.
Yang is playing the second major event of the year on a five-year exemption, as he won the 2009 PGA Championship that gave him the status of playing till 2014.
He told that he was pretty confident to move into the St. Jude Classic that will help him tweak his game for the upcoming major.
However, his current form will not help his cause, especially when there is a huge list of top players from all over the world ready to show up at the Olympic Club.
Golf commentators believe that he needs to work a little harder on his drives, as he has not been able to perform well in this field since the last few months.
Therefore, a little improvement can definitely open up huge prospects for him in the near future.
The only advantage he currently holds is his last year performance in the US Open, which earned him a tie for third-place finish.
Yet, it will totally be a different event this year, with completely new conditions, to which he will have to respond very positively, in order to shine in the field.
