Y.E. Yang wins the Kolon Korea Open

Y.E. Yang pushed Noh Seung-yul aside to claim the title of Korea Open, 2010.
The 38-year–old surprised the spectators on Sunday when he made up for the 10 shot deficit and notched the highest spot of the leaderboard. The general expectations were with the 19-year-old teenager, who was seen
battling terrible weather delays and still managing to keep the score constant at 68. However, a beforehand threat was explained to the player which he did not comprehend on time and Yang took advantage of the situation to take the lead.
Yang launched an attack with one dazzling eagle, six birdies and three bogeys to wrap a score of 66 in the final round of the Kolon Korea Open. The event of US$1,000,000 purse was the men’s professional golf tournament, the 7th leg
of the One Asia Tour and the richest sole-sanctioned event on the tour.
The ultimate result of the eagle fell on the last night leader, Noh Seung-yul who was further pushed back at the fifth spot. The player is the chief of the order of merit despite losing the winner prize of the
event. He was chased by Kim Bi-o and Choi Seung-ho who were only two strokes behind the leader; Kim made a score of 73, whereas, Choi posted a 71 in the final round.
On a distance of one stroke were Noh Seung-yul and Choi Jin-ho. Both the players carded a terrible score of eight-over 79 by the end of the day. According to media reports, the start of the final round was quite different from
its end. Noh was in the lead and trailing behind him was the 38-year-old Yang. The scenario changed on the 10th hole when the winner of the title fired a score of seven-under after 10 holes. However, he failed to keep up the pace and missed three
shots on his way to the closing holes of the back nine. Rest of the session was parred by the veteran. Owing to the early eagle, Yang won his second title on the One Asia tour.
Talking to the press, Yang said that the victory was a total surprise for him. He was on the edge of missing the cut and instead won it. He gave the credit of his victory to patience, perseverance and luck. Moreover, he was very
excited and confident as the victory broke the dry spell of his struggling era, which was persisting for the last few months. Yang became Asia's first major winner after he claimed the 2009 US PGA Championship.
The winner had a lot of praises to share with Noh. He told the press, “It will be disappointing for him and one of his worst rounds, but he should not view it as a failure but as a lesson, something to learn from, he has so much
ahead of him. To have that swing and that game at 19 is amazing. He's so far ahead of where I was at that age. His talent is incredible."
Five strokes behind the winner was a young golfer, Danny Lee. The player who hails from New Zealand secured the top seventh position with a blemish-free round of three-under-par 68.
Speaking to the press, Lee said, "It's a good way to finish as it wasn't easy to shoot low today, the pin placements were tricky and the greens were fast, so you had to hit good shots to get birdies."
Lee has been struggling to win a ticket that can take him on the European tour. Although the player has been changing swings quite frequently, but his hitting and putting has showed immense improvement.
The Kolon Korea Open ended on Sunday with Y.E Yang surging to the final victory. The 38-year-old derailed Noh’s bid to win the title and wrapped up the tournament with utmost grace and dignity.
