Have you tried www.irctc.co.in ? It is quite ok but you have to go through a long registration process and the site does not work between 2300 hours - 0400 hours.

Which Southern Railway? If you mean the UK one, use www.thetrainline.co.uk

Southern railway is a part of Indian Railways.  So the best site to check would be http://www.indianrail.gov.in .  If you feel that you do not like something about the Southern Railway site then tell them about it.  Give them a chance to rectify their mistakes.
