Y did john mayer ruin free fallin?

there is no reason for him to go back and try to make that classic song sound any better. the origional version was great and his version sucks!

Oh no...I've yet to hear it and Tom Petty's one of my all-time favorites. There are certain songs that should never be covered...and that's one of them. What a douche bag...write your own music, man!

it happens to all good songs that are covered. Most that are re-covered by other artists do not even come close to the original.  Especially if the song is extremely well known. Ofcourse a few manage to pull it off nicely.

I like seether's covers of nirvana.

kitty's version of pink floyd's run like h**l

marilyn manson's version of tainted love I also like the original by soft cell.

and deadsy's version of paint it black.

they try to add their own flair and music style to the original, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. As for John Mayer, I'm not really a big fan of his music anyway.
