  1. Probably because he knows you are an idiot who asks pet questions in a forum about Tivo & DVRs you twit.

  2. Dogs don't have hands, they grab everything with their mouths. Biting, as long as it isn't with growling (signaling an aggressive problem) can be a sign of affection, they can bite your hand to tell you they want food, or they are trying to bring you somewhere they want to go, and you just are not moving fast enough! If it seems to be aggressive, then you might want to try bringing the dog to Petco or Petsmart for some retraining.

  3. He pretty much nailed it on the head.

    Except for the Growling.

Dogs growl for several reason, and its not always aggression.

If the dog wants to play they will growl while they nibble at your hands or growl when you play tug of war.

When they are staring at you with hair raised and their lips up (to clear their own teeth and show their teeth to you) This is a sure sign the dog is aggressive and is in "bite" mode.

If the dog is acting aggressive then you have not shown him/her who is dominant in the house.  That is the KEY factor to having a well behaved dog. Show him/her who is master and who is just a pack mate.  There are several guides and trainers can tell you how to do this.

But the main thing is YOU HAVE TO DO THIS YOURSELF. Or the dog will think you are just a pack mate and the trainer is the master.
