The elders might have some annimosity towards the Japanese, however, second generation Koreans get along pretty well with the Japanese (at least the Korean women do, some Korean guys will have some animosity against the Japanese because they were taught that the Japanese were "those who raped our mothers and grandmothers"). The history between the two countries were very brutal and harsh and is considered one of the worst acts in history (even compared to the Holocaust), however the Japanese still do not acknowledge their brutality till this day and to make situations worse are claiming an island and many historic pieces that Koreans believe is theirs. Recently, Koreans even banned the purchase of any Japanese cars in Korea, which shows the differences in cultures from Koreans in South Korea and Koreans in America (since 50% of all Koreans drive Hondas in California). This is due to the fact that this wasn't even that long ago and people in Korea are still very affected by it. I was also informed that the Japanese changed the spelling of "Corea" to the now "Korea" so that they can go before Korea in sporting games (since they are called in alphabetical order) and that they had also changed the shape of Korea on the map from the shape of the once "Tiger" to the now "Rabbit" for superiority purposes. As this is a very sensitive subject, I mean no harm in this response and hope I haven't offended anyone.

Because Japan colonized Korea a long time ago and brutally abused them.

They kidnapped girls, not women and made them into s*x slaves for their soldiers.

Now they distort history to make themselves look better.

They are also trying to steal Korean land.

You mean Japanese People.  The word j**s is pejorative.  The Koreans have hard feelings about how there country was treated during the occupation before WW II.  The extent of the atrocity was incredible.

In the first place, Japanese people don't like being called j**s.

As for the history, Japan conquered Korea in 1910 and didn't treat people very well. During WWII large numbers of Korean women were turned into s*x slaves for the Japanese army. As far as I know the Japanese government has apologized for this, but has not given compensation.
