  1. Maybe her ears are back because she's listening to the stallion moaning and grunting behind her. LMAO!!!

  2. Maybe they are just upset or uncomfortable. She may not be enjoying it. The studs ussally enjoy it more then the mares, and they can be brutel, and cause damages. Thats why you must always have a handler during those things, and never rush a stud there. Can cause serious damage to the mare, and to the futer foal.

  3. Everything that is going on is going on behind her. No wonder she has her ears back!

But she is also preparing herself for any false moves by the stallion.

I'd be a bit concerned if she had her ears forward looking at something else while it was going on! LOL She'd be the talk of the meadow and getting pregnant the whole time!

  4. They are just focussing their intentions on what is going on behind.  Sort of a fight and flight mechanism.  I should think it is not very comfortable to have all that weight on top of you at the weakest part of the back!

  5. The guy didn't remember their anniversary....

IN reality... horses ears point to where their eyes are looking.. shes watching Romeo to make sure hes not a jerk.

  6. hmm i'd answer this but i'd be afraid you might ask a question, name me and then accuse me of saying something i didn't.

They're listening to what is behind them, i think if a bloke came at you from behind you wouldn't be best pleased either

  7. 1. They are paying attention to the "activity" behind them.

    Or...

    2. They are not enjoying it necessarily.

  8. Well most stud farms use a teaser to test whether the mare is ready or not because the mares can get aggressive and hurt the stallion. Something tells me they aren't all that fond of the procedure.

  9. A trainer I worked for said the strongest muscle on a mare is her ears...coz they're ALWAYS pinning them..lol

Honestly, I see mares bred without having them pinned. They do tend to be grumpy.

  10. Mares don't like to be dominated by anything or anyone, including stallions! The breeding process is neccessay, but that doesn't mean they have to like it. She was probably letting that stallion know that she was still capable of whoopin' his butt. It's funny watching mares in heat. They're all flirty and everything, but then when another horse comes around, they turn into the devil.

  11. watchin for any false moves from the studs. thats usually y they have handlers around. so no1 gets hurt.
