Y do people get perverse pleasure in scaring first time mums?

what kind of freaky stories were u told?

i was told about my mil birthing my hubby in the car cus she didnt knw diff between tummy cramps and labour pains.

i was also told about this woman who had cervix manually dialated and how da poor woman had her placenta manually removed after she got stitched up, cus the dr "forgot" to wait for the after birth.

other folks freaked me out about how delivery rooms are nothing short of bloodbaths.

note: all stories came from "wizened" woman from the inlaws side

Delivery is not a bloodbath. Don't worry all will be fine.

Ignore them...I bought "Pregnanacy for Dummies" and stuck to that when I was pregnant.....

Certain cultures do that.  No offense, but you will be fine;  your predecessors just want attention or sympathy.

No ones stories ever scared me.  I know every woman and pregnancy is different, so just because it happened to them didn't mean it would happen to me.  I don't believe all the craziness I hear.

well the worse i think is when my bestfriends mom told me that when she was delivering my bestfriend (Tiffany), Tiffany was coming out breech, so the dr tried to push her and turn her to make her come out the right way during delivery but it didnt work, because Tiffany was born butt first with her head and feet being delivered at the same time. so yeah that scared the c**p out of me
