Y do u give horses hay at night?

if you do then wolt they be haper are have more engery i can y in the moring but at night????

and i have a tb 6 years old much hay should i give hay a day

  1. hay gives them heat energy so helps keep them warmer.  i always gave mine 2 flakes in the morning and 3 flakes at night.  if bad weather i would give them more.  if just kicking around and not eating then i would cut back.

  4. During winter months and on the freezing unexpected days down here in Mississippi ( lol) we keep our horses in the barn on those nights and they get 2 flakes of hay each. The horse holds his food in the stomach for a rough 15 min and when digestion takes place it generates heat throughout the horse's body, and hay provides an enormous amount of heat.
