Y do u think one tree hill has lasted & the oc didnt?

when these 2 shows first came on i like them both but i thought oc was better, i believed the oc would be around for yrs like beverly hills 90210. but the oc lost something in its writing while oth matured and got better & better. fyi- i cant wait 4 the season premiere tonite :)
