A cut onion releases an irritant into the air which irritates our eyes, the body's response in turn is to try to get rid of the irritant through the production of tears. You can try one of two things to have your eyes water less when cutting onions...one is to cut your onion under a stream of water from your tap, the other is to not cut the end of the onion that has the roots on it...this will result in less irritant being released.

theres acids in the onion that irritte our eyes. when you cut the onion the acids travel through the air into ur eyes and u cry to try and keep the acids from being absorbed into your eyes

Oils from the onion get into the air and then into your eyes.  You can keep the onion in the refrigerator before cutting it, and the tearing won't be as bad.  I guess cold onion oil doesn't come out of the onion as much.

Ok a cure for that is put a spoon between your teeth and you wont have the problem please try it it really works
