  1. When you want/need to get something back, that is called being selfish. You give to GIVE not give to RECEIVE.

  2. That's why it is called charity!

  3. You could get a tax write-off!

  4. what are you speaking of giving?

  5. You give and contribute and expect nothing back in return when -

The boundary between self and the others becomes less well-defined and becoming one. Your hand picks up the food for you and doesn't expect anything in return because it's part of you. You pick up the mails for the household because you are part of it. As our recognition of belonging grows, one can give more to a bigger community and not expecting anything in return. The individual - self still exists but the delusion that self and the surrounding is separate is now removed.

  6. but you will.

you will get a reputation for being a good person.

every act of generosity makes the society a bit nicer, encourages others to act similarly.

you have to hope both this local effect and the wider one have built up a bit by the time you are old and really need help.

  7. According to my rel ed teacher it is better to give than to receive, because if you can give to those people who can not give you in return God will give you back a hundred fold.

  8. have you ever got help and you never helped them back out.   as for me, it makes me feel like a better person.  i also believe in karma.  maybe you won't get anything back immediately but more people will look at you differently and get more respect from those you helped.
